Primary Schools

At Highly Sprung, we use our expertise and experience in embodied, physical learning to explore a range of primary curriculum topics and themes.

We offer a selection of ready-to-go workshops, delivered by artists in your school. We also offer bespoke workshops, residencies and performances to suit the needs of your students and empower their learning.

Workshops

Creative Curriculum

Explore maths, science and other curriculum topics in the classroom through embodied learning. Using games, problem-solving and physical activities, sessions encourage creative and divergent thinking in students. We have a number of options and so sessions can be bespoke, to fit the subject or curriculum area you are exploring.

These sessions prove especially beneficial for children whose learning styles might not be best met in a traditional classroom setting, as they allow concepts and learning to become tangible and experienced.

“Children became enthusiastic about all aspects of Science and Maths covered in Highly Sprung sessions. Pupils who usually had a set mindset became more confident and willing to problem solve. Children who would not usually lead groups or work as a team became more confident.”

Stand Up to Hatred

A transformative physical theatre workshop which explores the powerful act of standing up to hatred. Through physical theatre, this workshop engages students in collaborative storytelling. It fosters empathy and resilience as we confront hatred, using the artistry of movement and dialogue.

Story-Telling, Story Exploring

This engaging workshop allows students to dive into their favourite books, celebrating the power of storytelling with movement. Explore characters, themes and storylines through movement and creativity.

Uncover the deeper meanings behind the words and bring the pages to life, in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

“They really know Children, they understand how to take enthusiasm and mould it, and how to deal with a child who is taking a back seat – and bring them in to a place of enjoyment .”

Oracy and Movement

Explore the beauty of language and its connection to physical expression. This session will enhance students’ verbal and movement skills, helping them gaining confidence with both.

This dynamic approach encourages creativity and collaboration.  Students will discover how to embody words and create poems using new words, sounds and movement.

Performance Making

Turn your class into a performance company. Work intensively with a Highly Sprung artist in an exciting 2+ day residency.  Students will create an original piece of performance, inspired by a a theme, story, historical figure or subject of your choice. The piece can then be used in-house for your assemblies, school shows, a sharing… it’s your call!

Play-in-a Day

Transform your students into theatre makers in just one day! This is a fast-paced, focussed session across one day, where a year group or multiple groups collaborate in making a piece of theatre from start to finish.

A group of Highly Sprung artists can work with a whole year group or a variety of groups. Our artists will lead students to collectively produce a piece of original performance, that can then be shared with the wider school community.

Workshops are available to book for a half-day or full-day, with one artist per 30 students.
