Emily Robertson

Emily is an experienced teacher of contemporary dance and contemporary choreography and graduate from Chichester University’s Choreography and Professional Practice MA. Emily uses dance as an integral part of the school curriculum and creates dance experiences for children that can support their overall learning by integrating subjects such as Maths, English and Science into classes. Emily creates intense, visceral and emotive work that explores the complexities of the human condition. Emily has experience of working with 3Fall Dance Company, Pavilion Dance South West, Lila Dance, Retina Dance Company and Ceyda Tanc Dance.

Emily works for Highly Sprung as a key member of the delivery team, working across both educational and performance projects. Most recently Emily created a performance exploring heart health ‘Professor Coerium’s Heart Emporium’, as well as touring as part of outdoor productions Urban Astronaut and Roots. Emily has also taken Highly Sprung’s work internationally performing in Spain, Germany and delivering a creative education residency in China.

In addition to her role as Associate Artist, Emily is responsible for the development of partnerships with the education sector,  delivering high-quality and dynamic programmes of learning and participation for classes and groups, with a particular focus on programmes to engage underserved young people. Emily is also the lead for Highly Sprung’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion working group.
