It’s our birthday! Join Highly Sprung in February for a wonderful celebration Gala as we start our anniversary year in style.  Tickets on sale NOW!

20 years ago, we began Sprung Youth.  All of us at Highly Sprung are so proud to have reached this milestone. It’s been a privilege and joy to work with a talented, diverse group of children and young people over the years. Young people who have continued using their passion and motivation to impact their communities, their country, and even the world. Our Gala evening will shine a light on these young people from Sprung Youth’s past and present – sharing their creativity and stories.

The Sprung 20 Gala is an exclusive evening of performance and celebration to mark the occasion. It’s also an opportunity to invest in the future of Sprung Youth, raising funds and support as we look ahead to another wonderful 20 years.

What do we have lined up?

The Sprung 20 Gala is a showcase of the talent, energy, and passion of our Sprung Youth cohort. You can expect:

  • Original performances from our current Sprung Youth groups, aged 6 – 19. Featuring Sprung Stars, Sprung Launch, Sprung Advance and Sprung Advance PLUS.
  • An exclusive performance from Ex-Sprung members!
  • Drinks, canapes, a photo-booth and a Sprung Raffle
  • Special announcements, with surprises to be revealed at the start of our 20th Anniversary Year…

We need your support…

Each year we work directly with over 30,000 children and young people. For a great many of them, we are their happy place. Somewhere they come to make friends, to have fun, to discover and learn more about themselves and each other, to grow and build confidence. Somewhere to find their inner me.

Any donation you’re able to give, or ticket you buy, will help support young people in financial difficulty to attend our sessions. It will also help ensure the quality of our Sprung Youth teaching and opportunities.

About Sprung Youth…

Sprung Youth was first established in 2003 as an opportunity to share the transformational potential of Highly Sprung’s physical theatre to the children and young people of Coventry and Warwickshire.

From its very beginnings, we attracted large numbers of children and young people who were searching for an alternative to traditional performing arts groups. Sprung Youth was never intended to directly prepare young people for the performing arts but instead to prepare them for life. We have always been youth-led, making work that gives young people a voice on the issues affecting them, now and in their futures. This approach has led to experiences that unique, profound, and sometimes life-changing. In recent times, we’ve launched Sponsor a Sprung, and are delighted to have provided bursaries for Sprung Youth, ensuring our sessions are inclusive and accessible for all those looking to join.

We’re proud that alumni have gone on to become doctors, business owners, paramedics, environmentalists working in the north pole, social workers and teachers to name just a few… This is alongside numerous performers with several touring actors, a UK representing drag performer and even a musical theatre star.

We’ve collaborated with artists and organisations from across the country, with the National Theatre, RSC, Holocaust Memorial Day, U:Dance, Complicite, Frantic Assembly, Motionhouse, Deaf Explorer and Liam Steel (DV8). Countless performance opportunities have seen Sprung Youth as important contributors to large scale events – leading the Lord Mayor of London’s Thames Carnival in 2013, taking part the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the recent Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and of course leading a naughty pack of Corgis as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee Procession!

Sprung Youth sits alongside our varied work in performance and education, from our free immersive performances for schools to our renowned outdoor arts performances at festivals across the UK and Europe, to leading award-winning educational programmes in schools, colleges and universities.
